The Madonna Eyelift is a cosmetic laser procedure to rejuvenate eyelid skin and the skin around the eyes. It is a new procedure using a special laser, the Fractionated CO2 (in Canada called SmartXide Dot Laser) performed over the eyelids and around the eye area. Special eye shields are placed (like contacts) which protect the eyes and enable safe treatment of the eyelid area. The results are permanent and most patients find the results make them look 5-10 years younger. Fractionated CO2 laser is a new innovation in CO2 laser technology and available to be used only by Dermatologists and specialized medical doctors. Dr. Malcolm and Dr. Wong perform all laser treatments.
This SmartXide Dot laser is used for the Madonna eyelift and it is the most effective laser treatment to:
How Does It Work? The laser penetrates into the upper layer of the dermis, the supporting layer of skin which contains most of its collagen. It targets water in these tissues, resulting in tissue ablation inside the ‘dot’. Each ‘dot’ is surrounded by a zone of thermal tissue damage formed by the laser. This thermal damage is responsible for the superior results seen with CO2 lasers.
How Long Does the Procedure Take? The procedure takes approximately 15-30 minutes. Numbing cream will be placed 1 hour prior.
How Many Treatments Will I Need? The eyelid skin is thin and fragile. This means the laser is set to less aggressive settings than would be typically used on the face in order to safely treat this area. Most patients do a series of 3 treatments but results are noticeable even after the first treatment.
